Viator House of Hospitality (www.viatorhouseofhospitality.com) recently received a generous grant from Preston Meadow Lutheran Church. Founded by Fr. Corey Brost, CSV, and myself, VHH offers long-term hospitality and case management services for young immigrant males seeking asylum in the United States. If not for VHH, many of these young men would end up being handcuffed on their 18th birthday and taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials from the Office of Refugee Resettlement youth detention facilities to adult detention facilities in for-profit prisons or county jails. Released to VHH by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, VHH case mangers assist these young men in accessing educational, medical, and mental health services while living in a safe environment. Many of our participants have been traumatized in home country, traumatized on their journey to the United States and further traumatized by being detained in youth detention centers. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are giving hope to our young participants who risked much in order to find safety. May God Bless You.
